Taxonomy
Styrites was named by Mojsisovics (1893) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Styrites tropitiformis.

It was assigned to Tropitidae by Smith (1927) and Spath (1951); to Tropiceltitidae by Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
