Taxonomy
Thetidites was named by Mojsisovics (1896) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Thetidites huxleyi. It is the type genus of Thetiditidae.

It was assigned to Metasibiritidae by Spath (1951); to Thetiditidae by Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
