Taxonomy
Mathoceras neoleonensis was named by Barragán and Szives (2007). Its type specimen is IGM 8418, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Huasteca Canyon N.P., layer 8 [La Peña Fm], which is in an Aptian carbonate limestone/shale in Mexico.
