Taxonomy
Tozerites was named by Silberling and Nichols (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Columbites humboldtensis.

It was assigned to Proteusitidae by Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
