Taxonomy
Phymosoma binexilis was named by White (1887). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lastro, perto de Maroim, which is in an Albian carbonate limestone in the Riacheulo Formation of Brazil.

It was recombined as Cyphosoma binexile by Maury (1936).
