Vickohlerites was named by Kummel (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Prenkites sundaicus.
It was assigned to Paranannitidae by Kummel (1969) and Tozer (1981); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ussuritidae by Brayard et al. (2009).
