Taxonomy
Vishnuites was named by Diener (1897) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Indu-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Vishnuites pralambha.

It was assigned to Ophiceratidae by Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
