Taxonomy
Ammonites syriacus was named by Von Buch (1848). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Knemiceras syriacum by Böhm (1898), Benavides-Caceres (1956), Kennedy and Simmons (1991) and Geyer et al. (1997).
