Ammonites fourneli was named by Bayle (1849). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Buchiceras fourneli by Bayle (1878); it was recombined as Metatissotia fourneli by Hyatt (1903); it was recombined as Tissotia fourneli by Benavides-Caceres (1956).
