Taxonomy
Rhacophyllites was named by Zittel (1884) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Ammonites neojurensis.

It was reranked as Phylloceras (Rhacophyllites) by De Stefani (1887).

It was assigned to Phylloceras by De Stefani (1887); to Discophyllitidae by Wiedmann (1970), Tozer (1981), Vavilov and Arkadiev (1986) and Tozer (1994); and to Phylloceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
