Taxonomy
Acanthodiscus was named by Uhlig (1905) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut-l]. Its type is Ammonites radiata.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Imlay (1960) and Sepkoski (2002); to Endemoceratinae by Klein (2005); and to Neocomitinae by Reboulet (1996) and Zell et al. (2015).
