Taxonomy
Neoptychites (Hoplites) wohltmanni was named by von Koenen (1897). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mungo River, between Mundame and Eliki, which is in a Turonian carbonate limestone/sandstone in the Mungo River Formation of Cameroon.
It was recombined as Hoplitoides wohltmanni by Solger (1904), Reyment (1955), Reyment (1958), Cobban and Hook (1980) and Renz (1982).
