Oxytropidoceras venezolanum was named by Stieler (1920). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Venezoliceras venezolanum by Benavides-Caceres (1956); it was recombined as Oxytropidoceras (Venezoliceras) venezolanum by Renz (1982).
