Annuloceras was named by Murphy et al. (1995) [Sepkoski's age data: K Barr-u]. Its type is Annuloceras summersi.

It was assigned to Heteroceratidae by Murphy et al. (1995); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Aegocrioceratidae by Klein et al. (2007).
