Taxonomy
Mantelliceras portalesi was named by Kellum and Mintz (1962). Its type specimen is UMMP 44721, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Loc. 61-98, Cuenca de Francisco [Indidura Fm], which is in a Cenomanian marine horizon in the Indidura Formation of Mexico.
