Taxonomy
Coelogasteroceras thomasi was named by Miller and Cline (1934). Its type specimen is SUI 701, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Casper Creek, Rattlesnake Hills, which is in a Lopingian shallow subtidal limestone in the Phosphoria Formation of Wyoming.
