Taxonomy
Schizodus subovatus was named by Ciriacks (1963). Its type specimen is USNM 140493, a valve (Left valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cephalopod Gulch, South Fork Dry Creek, Salt Lake City, which is in a Kungurian marine horizon in the Park City Formation of Utah.
