Taxonomy
Pleurophorella elongata was named by Pagani (2006). Its type specimen is MLP 29870, a shell (Composite mold, both valves), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Cerro Mina, Sierra de Languineo, which is in a Bashkirian/Moscovian marine shale in Argentina.
