Australiceras was named by Whitehouse (1926) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti-l K Apti-u]. Its type is Crioceras jackii.

It was assigned to Ancyloceratidae by Whitehouse (1926) and Förster (1975); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
