Taxonomy
Hoplitoides latesellatus was named by von Koenen (1898). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Elephantenbank, Mungo River, which is in a Turonian carbonate limestone in the Mungo River Formation of Cameroon.

It was synonymized subjectively with Hoplitoides ingens by Solger (1904) and Reyment (1955).
