Piloceras newtonwinchelli was named by Clarke (1897). It is not extant.

It was misspelled as Clarkeoceras newtonwinchelli by Flower (1964); it was recombined as Clarkoceras newtonwinchelli by Ruedemann (1905), Ulrich et al. (1943) and Kröger and Landing (2007).
