Xenodiscus carbonarius
Taxonomy
Ceratites carbonarius was named by Waagen (1872). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jabi, "Cephalopod Bed", Salt Range, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine limestone in the Chhidru Formation of Pakistan.
It was recombined as Xenaspis (Vishnuites) carbonarius by Diener (1897); it was recombined as Xenaspis carbonaria by Diener (1903), Vaillant-Couturier Treat (1933), Spath (1934) and Reed (1944); it was recombined as Xenodiscus (Xenaspis) carbonarius by Astre (1934); it was recombined as Xenodiscus carbonarius by Waagen (1879), Spinosa et al. (1975), Ehiro and Bando (1978) and Leonova (2002).
It was recombined as Xenaspis (Vishnuites) carbonarius by Diener (1897); it was recombined as Xenaspis carbonaria by Diener (1903), Vaillant-Couturier Treat (1933), Spath (1934) and Reed (1944); it was recombined as Xenodiscus (Xenaspis) carbonarius by Astre (1934); it was recombined as Xenodiscus carbonarius by Waagen (1879), Spinosa et al.
