Taxonomy
Metabaltoceras minutum was named by Flower (1964). Its type specimen is RHF 318, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mud Springs Mountain (Mud Springs Mt. Fm.), which is in a Demingian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Mud Springs Mountain Formation of New Mexico.
