Brewericeras was named by Casey (1954) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi-l]. Its type is Ammonites brewerii.

It was assigned to Beudanticeratinae by Nagy (1970); to Cleoniceratidae by Wright et al. (1996); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Uhligellinae by Latil et al. (2023).
