Cleoniceras

Taxonomy
Cleoniceras was named by Parona and Bonarelli (1897) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi-l K Albi-m]. Its type is Ammonites cleon. It is the type genus of Cleoniceratinae.

It was assigned to Hoplitidae by Kennedy et al. (1980); to Cleoniceratinae by Jeletzky (1980), Kennedy et al. (1981) and Alabushev (1995); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
