Taxonomy
Mangelia heptagona was named by Gabb (1873). Its type specimen is ANSP 2915, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cythara heptagona by Brown and Pilsbry (1911) and Weisbord (1929); it was recombined as Lepicythara heptagona by Woodring (1970) and Perrilliat (1992).
