Pleurotoma childreni was named by Lea (1833). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Surcula childreni by Conrad (1865); it was recombined as Gemmula childreni by Casey (1904); it was recombined as Gemmula (Coronia) childreni by Harris and Palmer (1947); it was recombined as Coronia childreni by Hendy et al. (2008).
