Cypraea bartlettiana was named by Maury (1912) [DISTRIBTUION: ?Paleocene or Eocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is PRI (unknown number), a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Sphaerocypraea bartlettiana by Hendy et al. (2008).
