Taxonomy
Phtanoncoceras oelandense was named by Evans and King (1990). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NRM-PZ Mo 158453, a shell. Its type locality is Hälludden cliff section (upper part of Gillberga Fm.), which is in a Hunderum/Valaste deep subtidal shelf wackestone in the Gillberga Formation of Sweden. It is the type species of Phtanoncoceras.
