Craspedodiscus was named by Spath (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut-u K Barr-l Sepkoski's reference number: 2,1066]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Simbirskites (Craspedodiscus) by Wright et al. (1996).

It was assigned to Simbirskites by Wright et al. (1996); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
