Taxonomy
Orthoceras festinans was named by Blake (1882). It is not extant. Its type locality is Worthen area, which is in an Abereiddian coastal siltstone in the Weston Flags Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Dideroceras festinans by Evans (2005).
