Taxonomy
Prosopon ornatum was named by von Meyer (1857). It is not extant. It is the type species of Nodoprosopon.

It was recombined as Nodoprosopon ornatum by Patrulius (1966), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Schweitzer et al. (2012).
