Taxonomy
Bassleroceras smithbasinense was named by Kröger and Landing (2008). Its type specimen is NYSM 17473. Its type locality is NYSM locality 5897, which is in a Stairsian shallow subtidal reef rocks/dolomite in the Rochdale Formation of New York.
