Taxonomy
Thamnarea hornosensis was named by Filkorn and Pantoja-Alor (2009). Its type locality is Arroyo Los Hornos, rudist-coral biostrome, which is in an Aptian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Cumburindio Formation of Mexico.
