Taxonomy
Exiteloceras was named by Hyatt (1894) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u K Maes-l Sepkoski's reference number: 971]. Its type is Ancyloceras jenneyi.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nostoceratidae by Kennedy and Cobban (1997), Kennedy (2000), Kennedy et al. (2000) and Ifrim et al. (2015).
