Siderastrea silecensis was named by Vaughan (1919). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 3694 - Wakulla [Chattahoochee Fm], which is in a Miocene shallow subtidal limestone in the Chattahoochee Formation of Florida.
