It was recombined as Favia versipora by Matthai (1914); it was recombined as Orbicella versipora by Vaughan (1918); it was recombined as Montastrea versipora by Yabe and Sugiyama (1937); it was recombined as Plesiastrea versipora by López-Pérez (2005) and Kiessling (2008).
