Favrella was named by Douvillé (1909) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut K Apti]. Its type is Neocomites americanus.

It was assigned to Neocomitinae by Haas (1960); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Endemoceratinae by Klein (2005).
