Taxonomy
Monticulastraea solidior was named by Duncan (1880). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Magar Pir, Karachi, Sind, Pakistan, which is in a Burdigalian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone/sandstone in Pakistan.

It was recombined as Hydnophora solidior by Umbgrove (1946).
