Newellipectinia americanus

Taxonomy
Aviculopecten americanus was named by Newell and Boyd (1995). Its type specimen is USNM 388881, a valve (Left valve), and it is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Newellipectinia.

It was recombined as Hayasakapecten americanus by Boyd and Newell (2000); it was recombined as Newellipectinia americanus by Waterhouse (2001).
