Taxonomy
Fontanelliceras was named by Fucini (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: J Plie-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Harpoceras fontanellense.

It was assigned to Arieticeratinae by Howarth (1955), Smith and Tipper (1996), Hillebrandt (2006) and Howarth (2013).
