Taxonomy
Pinnatopora grandis was named by Fritz (1932). Its type specimen is Nat Mus Can 6822(1) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Azure Lake Section, Marble Peak, Vancouver Island, which is in an Artinskian carbonate limestone in the Buttle Lake Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Penniretepora grandis by Yole (1963).
