Gleviceras was named by Buckman (1918) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Oxynoticeratidae by Smith and Tipper (1996), Blau (1998), Blau et al. (2000) and Howarth (2013).
