Taxonomy
Aspidites spitiensis was named by Krafft (1909).

It was recombined as Clypeoceras spitiense by Spath (1934) and Shigeta and Zakharov (2009); it was recombined as Mullericeras spitiense by Ware et al. (2011), Ware and Bucher (2018) and Ware and Bucher (2018).
