Meekoceras (Koninckites) septentrionale was named by Diener (1895). Its type specimen is CGM 71/596 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Discoproptychites septentrionalis by Kiparisova (1956); it was recombined as Proptychites (Discoproptychites) septentrionale by Kiparisova (1961); it was recombined as Arctoceras septentrionale by Shigeta and Zakharov (2009).
