Taxonomy
Holcodiscus was named by Uhlig (1882) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut-u K Barr-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Ammonites caillaudianus.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Holcodiscidae by Haas (1960) and Klein (2005).
