Taxonomy
Protoretepora ampla woodsi was named by Etheridge (1892). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Stony Creek railway cutting, which is in a Kungurian offshore siliciclastic in the Fenestella Shale Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Polypora woodsi by Crockford (1944), Crockford (1946) and Wass (1968); it was recombined as Polyporella woodsi by Reid (2003).
