Taxonomy
Pircanchaspis rinconensis was named by Erdtmann et al. (2000). Its type specimen is MB f.3963 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is ‘‘Rincon", ‘‘Escuela Seccional de Puesto Grande’’, Tarija [Pircancha Fm], which is in a Moridunian offshore mudstone in the Pircancha Formation of Bolivia.
