Taxonomy
Platycoenia tarbellensis was named by Chevalier (1961). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Cabanes reef, Saint-Paul-les-Dax, Adour Valley, Landes, which is in a Burdigalian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in France.
