Jauberticeras was named by Jacob (1907) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Ammonites jaubertianus.

It was assigned to Gabbioceratinae by Renz (1982) and Wright et al. (1996); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Gabbioceratini by Hoffmann (2010).
